Pyramids of Giza
First, explore this legendary plateau on the edge of Cairo, home to the last surviving wonder of the ancient world. This vast royal necropolis brings together three towering pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and a network of temples built for the pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty, and your guide will set the scene before exploring each monument in detail.

Great Pyramid of Khufu
Marvel at the largest and oldest of the three pyramids, built by an estimated 30,000 workers using 2.6 million limestone blocks, and originally standing 144 meters tall. It held the title of the tallest man-made structure on earth for nearly 4,000 years, and its scale is best appreciated standing right at its base.

Pyramid of Khafre
Continue to the second pyramid, which appears taller than the Great Pyramid due to its elevated position on the plateau. Look closely near the summit and you can still spot fragments of the original polished limestone casing that once covered the entire structure.

Pyramid of Menkaure
Visit the smallest of the three pyramids, covered in red Aswan granite along its lower courses. Its more modest scale offers a fascinating contrast to its larger neighbors and hints at how pyramid construction evolved by the end of the Fourth Dynasty.

Valley Temple of Khafre
Discover this ancient mummification facility, built with massive granite pillars and alabaster flooring. Its cool, cavernous interior is remarkably well preserved, offering a rare sense of how these sacred spaces looked and felt in antiquity.

Great Sphinx
Encounter this magnificent guardian, standing 21 meters high and stretching 73 meters long. With the body of a lion and the face of a king, it has long symbolized strength and intelligence, and remains one of the most iconic monuments on earth.

Saqqara
After lunch, visit this immense necropolis to explore the Step Pyramid of Djoser, recognized as Egypt’s first stone structure and the ancestor of every pyramid that followed. You’ll also explore several beautifully decorated tombs, where vivid carved reliefs depict scenes of farming, hunting, and daily life, offering an intimate window into how ordinary Egyptians lived.

Memphis
Then continue to Egypt’s ancient capital, once the political and religious heart of the kingdom. Today it’s an open-air museum where you’ll see the colossal 12-meter statue of Ramses II carved in fine limestone, along with the alabaster sphinx, sculpted from a single block of stone.

Afterward, transfer back to your hotel for overnight.

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, your tour guide will greet you with a name sign and escort you in a private air-conditioned vehicle.

Aswan High Dam
Begin at this modern engineering masterpiece, built between 1964 and 1971 to tame the mighty Nile. It controls the river’s seasonal flooding and generates over 70% of Egypt’s electricity, and its creation gave rise to Lake Nasser, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world. From its crest, you’ll enjoy sweeping views across both the lake and the river valley below.

Philae Temple
Next, visit this stunning temple on Agilkia Island, dedicated to the goddess Isis and dating to the Greco-Roman period, between 380 BC and 300 AD. Set amid the beauty of the Nile’s rocky islands, the temple is famous not only for its graceful colonnades and richly carved reliefs, but for its remarkable rescue story, painstakingly relocated stone by stone in the 1970s to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

Granite Quarries
Explore the ancient quarries that supplied much of Egypt’s finest stone, used in obelisks, statues, and temple monuments across the country. Walking among the rock faces, you can still see the marks left by ancient quarrying tools and techniques.

Unfinished Obelisk
Marvel at this extraordinary 42-meter, 1,150-ton masterpiece, abandoned mid-carving after cracks appeared in the granite. Left in place exactly as it was found, it offers an unmatched, firsthand look at the tools and techniques ancient Egyptian workers used to carve and extract massive stone monuments.

Karnak Temple

Valley of the Kings

Hanging Church
Explore one of Egypt’s oldest and most beloved Coptic landmarks, suspended above the gatehouse of the old Roman fortress, with its nave built directly across the ancient towers below. Highlights include a beautifully carved wooden ceiling shaped like Noah’s Ark, delicate ivory-inlaid screens, and a remarkable collection of ancient icons.

Church of Saint George
Visit this distinctive round Greek Orthodox church, built atop one of the circular towers of the Roman fortress, which gives it its unusual circular floor plan. Dedicated to the dragon-slaying saint revered across both Christian and Muslim tradition in Egypt, its interior is richly decorated with stained glass and icons depicting his story.

Abu Serga Church
Continue to this ancient church, believed to have sheltered the Holy Family during their flight into Egypt, built above the crypt where the tradition holds they took refuge. Its basilica layout, ancient columns, and quiet, candlelit interior make it one of the most moving stops in Old Cairo.

Ben Ezra Synagogue
Conclude at Cairo’s oldest Jewish house of worship, elegantly restored with graceful arches, geometric marble inlay, and a raised wooden bimah.
